This morning on Nick, Jess and Ducko, Jess poses the question “What is like crack for your kids?” to listeners, following experts’ disclosure that the children’s program “Cocomelon” can cause addictive behaviour.
“My kids haven’t seen it but i’ve watched it as research…as what not to do,” Nick said on Nick, Jess and Ducko.
“It’s been described as crack for kids because it is so over stimulating, it’s like a drug,” Jess adds.
“All of it has just got kids almost having withdrawals if they don’t get it.”
Jess is then curious to discover other activities or shows that produce comparable effects on children as Cocomelon. The phones lit up.
“My two year old is addicted to Blippi.”
“My toddler loves our TV remote…we bought him a universal remote to try and stop him from wanting our remote but he knew instantly that it had no batteries in and it did not work, so he did not want it.”
“If the garbage truck hadn’t been, oh my god, all hell would break loose.”
