A video of a well known radio personality in Sydney has gone viral over the weekend.
But instead of offering help to the vulnerable celebrity, the person behind the camera made the decision to send the damaging clip to a tabloid – participating in dangerous journalism and toxic content culture.
Speaking out about this troubling issue on his Sydney’s breakfast show, Nath said he was “disappointed” about the supposed ‘journalism’.
“I think as people, and people in the spotlight are humans and we make mistakes,”
“This particular person was clearly in a very vulnerable state.”
“The issue I have is that a person’s first thought when seeing this wasn’t to offer help or to intervene.”
“Their first instinct was rather to film.”
Nathan, who understandably got emotional during his conversation with co-host Jimmy, added;
“We owe it to each other to come from a place of guidance, help and kindness first as opposed to content creation.”
