‘He Was An Absolute Genius’ – Reg Prasaad & Richard Clapton Pay Tribute To Doug Mulray

Radio and Triple M royalty Doug Mulray sadly passed away yesterday afternoon.

Though the outpour of love has been widespread throughout the Australian media circles.

Musician Richard Clapton and sidekick Reg Prasaad joined The Rush Hour with Gus, Jude & Wendell to share some beautiful stories about the legendary broadcaster.

Prasaad, a key member of Mulray’s breakfast show in the late 80s and the 90s was the ‘funny right-hand man’.

‘He had an enormous heart,’ said Prasaad.

‘He was so selfless in so many ways.’

But Mulray was famous for his sense of humour and antics, which Prasaad was the butt of the punchline on numerous occasions.

And shared a story of a particular prank.

‘He was a genius, he told the audience what he was going to do and how he was going to set me up.

‘Unbeknownst to me, he planted a vampire in a coffin.

‘This god damn thing comes flying out and it scared the absolute crap out of me.

‘I said all sorts of swear words that all went too air.’

But Prasaad, like others has so much love for the radio legend stating, ‘I can never thank the man enough for giving me such great opportunities.’

Musician Richard Clapton was a regular feature on Mulray’s programs and joined The Rush Hour to pay his own tribute.

‘Doug was the most generous, kind person,’ said Clapton.

‘He’d get me on so often, he was doing breakfast and you’d get to 9am and he’d crack open the first bottle of champagne.

‘I was a rock musician but it was too early for me!’

But Clapton had a beautiful message to share about Mulray.

‘He was the most generous, kind person.

‘I’ve been listening to what everyone has had to say today and they’ve all said the same thing.

‘I know it sounds like hyperbole, but in Doug’s case it’s true.’
