It’s easy to set goals but it’s much harder to achieve and maintain new habits. In the latest ep of It’s A Lot, Abbie is kickstarting the New Year with Neuroscientist Alexis Fernandez-Preiksa who also hosts the Do You F*cking Mind podcast. Alexis spoke to Abbie about strategies to help achieve 2025 goals and the best ways to overcome burnout.

How to achieve your goals in 2025

A step that Alexis highlights is the importance of starting small. In particular, breaking down goals into manageable tasks over a 30 day period.

“You don’t have to be doing it perfectly. But just put in enough effort to counter the lack of action, just enough and things start changing at a really fast rate for you.”

Another important step Alexis emphasises is developing a positive relationship with yourself.

“Everything comes down to your relationship with yourself…at the end of the day, everything we do is for happiness”.  

“Why don’t I work on feeling good now, learning why my beliefs are the way they are.” Alexis continued.

What is Burnout?

Alexis describes burnout as “a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by prolonged stress” with common symptoms including fatigue, irritability, and decreased performance.

The tools to combat burnout include setting boundaries, seeking support and engaging in activities that bring joy.
