Triple M Footy news breaker Tom Browne says that Gil McLachlan is “toying with the idea” of staying on as AFL CEO, as the race to replace him carries on.
GIL MCLACHLAN CONSIDERING STAYING ON AS CEO:
“Gil McLachlan is still toying with the idea, my understanding, of staying in the top job,” Tom Browne said on Tom Browne’s News.
“I believe he’s had overtures from media bosses in recent weeks, encouraging him, or at least encouraging him to think about staying.
“He’s even had prominent players encouraging him to stay, quite frankly because the game is in such good health at the moment.”

Browne said that GIl’s guidance on the issues over the horizon for the competition could beinvaluable.
“You’ve got challenges facing the game like concussion, the collective bargaining agreement,” he said.
“And I think it’s widely held that Gil’s best placed to do all those things, and has spent all this energy through covid setting up the competition, and now could enjoy the fruits of his labour.”
