Mark Taylor On The Likelihood Of David Warner Retiring After The Sydney Test

Mark Taylor addressed the potential for Aussie opener David Warner to step away from Test cricket aft the SCG Test in January.

“Once you get to say 33 plus, top order player, and you start having a run of outs… you don’t need that when you’re 33 plus,” Tubby said on Willow Talk.

“He’s also talked publicly about getting towards the end of his career, whether he goes to India, maybe goes to England, and it’s all maybes at the moment.

“I think what will happen is, Davey will play his 100th Test match at the MCG and play at Sydney, and probably see how he’s going.

“If he finds a bit of form, particularly against this attack, if he can make runs at the MCG and/or Sydney, that will give him a lot of belief that he could go to India and play, or could go to England and play.

“If he doesn’t, I think he probably will get out.”
