An Australian content creator has come under fire following comments she made about her profession at this years’ TikTok awards in a now viral social media post by ABC News.
Veronica B, known for her playful skits as Aunty Salma, responded to a question about her line of work, stating her job is ‘hard work.’
The comments were met with a flurry of responses on social media, most notably with netizens comparing her job to the hours worked by frontline healthcare workers and those in construction.
In response, Veronica B issued an apology video and drew attention to the influx of ‘online bullying’ she was receiving.
“I wanted to say I’m sorry for being honest and sharing my honest experience. I forgot that it’s 2024 and if your opinion doesn’t align with the loud minority, then your opinion is wrong,” she said.

On Tuesday evening’s episode of The Briefing, Veronica B joined Chris Spyrou to stand firm on her comments and explain her point of view.
The content creator maintained that she was “not complaining,” but said the constant stream of content generation was “not easy.”
“I just think people have been close minded and seeing only from their perspective. I understand why, because from the outside looking at someone like me and what I do and what I show you is fun. So obviously you’re only going to see that side of it.”
Veronica B said that she has worked harder jobs before this but that the job was 24/7.
She shared that this role has been her “dream” and believes that her comments were taken out of context.
“I’m sharing my personal experience of my job and the hard work that I put into my job. That’s not tone deaf,” she said.
