Find Out How To Avoid Falling Victim To Seafood Fraud

Australians eat approximately 12 to 13kg of seafood every year, but how do we know that what we are consuming is what we have paid for? 

Seafood fraud happens far more regularly than one might think, especially when you consider that one in five fish caught every year is caught illegally or has come from an unregulated source, which means there is no way of knowing where or how it was fished. 

If we don’t know where our seafood is coming from, how are we supposed to trust what ends up on our plate? 

Dr Sophie Calabretto along with Cosmos Magazine Journalist Ellen Phiddian chat about the disturbing regularity of seafood fraud and the innovative ways scientists and marine experts are working to tackle the illegal practice.
