Dominique Pelicot has been sentence to 20 years in prison for the repeated drugging and rape of his then-wife Gisele Pelicot, and facilitating dozens of men to do the same over the span of almost a decade.
According to the AFP, Pelicot has continuously maintained he did not abuse his daughter.
“Yes, he denied it, but he also lied several times and gave different versions of the story during the two and a half years of the investigation,” Ms Darian said.
Gisele Pelicot’s story swept the globe last year, particularly regarding her insistence for a public trial and waiving of her right to anonymity.
In addition to Dominique Pelicot, the 50 co-defendants were also found guilty and handed various sentences of between three and 15 years.
Both during and in the aftermath of the case, Ms Darian has continuously campaigned for awareness about the use of drugs to commit sexual abuse.
