Michael Italiano, who previously coached Daniel Ricciardo, joins Xav and Michelle in studio to share his knowledge and experience of coaching in the world of Formula One via Xav and Michelle for Breakfast.
“I feel very fortunate because as a coach you’re so close with these guys throughout the whole year, you probably spend the most time with them…we just got on like a house on fire,” Michael said about his transition to coaching Yuki via Xav and Michelle for Breakfast.
“A lot of these young guys, they don’t learn how to handle pressure. They just get told, “Go in the car and drive fast.””
Due to the nature of Formula One, Michael stresses the importance of focusing on the future rather than dwelling on the past.
“Give a different perspective and get them back on the wagon…if you’re thinking about the past it’s going to eat you up.”
