After achieving a life membership from the AFL, commentary great Bruce McAvaney shares that in his career of commentating the Summer Games to the AFL, his highlight is working alongside another all-time great, Dennis Cometti via Xav and Michelle for Breakfast.

With over 30 years in football, Bruce has one of the most recognisable voices, achieving him a life membership from the AFL.
“It’s given me a chance to reflect on all those years…I sort of realised how important footy’s been to me,” Bruce said on Xav and Michelle for Breakfast.
After calling tennis, horse racing, the Summer Games and more, Bruce admits working with Dennis in his last call with Channel 7 for the 2016 AFL Grand Final was his career highlight.
“I believe he is the greatest AFL…commentator that I’ve heard.”
“To stand with Dennis that day and to be apart of his final day is something I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”
