Nick Riewoldt Calls For Anti-Tampering Rule For Contracted Players

Triple M’s Nick Riewoldt believes the AFL must introduce a rule that forbids contracted players to meet with opposition clubs, amid reports Hawthorn’s Sam Mitchell flew to Perth to meet with Eagles captain Oscar Allen.

“That allows contracts to be honoured both ways, and it allows the equalisation measures in place to take effect,” Roo said on Mick In The Morning.

Roo adds how the in-season report could cause unwanted tension within the playing group.

“I would have a hard time walking back in as captain and selling the message of, ‘this is the journey we’re on’.”

“Are you on the bus or off it?”

The NFL has an anti-tampering policy that prohibits teams from contacting players under contract before free agency officially opens.
