AFL.com.au reporter Cal Twomey explained to the Rush Hour the bidding reasons behind Western Bulldogs acquiring the fourth pick from Gold Coast.
CAL TWOMEY ON BULLDOGS FIRST ROUND PICK SWAP WITH THE SUNS:
“There’s some levels to this, both of these clubs have bidding considerations,” said Twomey.
The Bulldogs packaged picks 10, 17 and a future first rounder, receiving later picks to ensure extra points for a father-son bid.
“The Suns have academy boys coming through, they need to get pick four out. The Dogs have [father-son] Jordan Croft coming through.”
Twomey says the Dogs are set on recruiting a top-level prospect after trading up the draft order.
“There’s a really good player there. It could be Nick Watson, maybe even Riley Sanders the midfielder.”
