Triple M’s Ben Dobbin, aka Dobbo reveals latest Origin team news from the Queensland Maroons camp as Billy Slater takes the shock decision to drop Selwyn Cobbo
It was a surprise in Origin game one to see Selwyn Cobbo start on the bench. So it is an even bigger shock that Billy Slater has announced Cobbo doesn’t even make his squad for game two.
Speaking to Triple M Breakfast with Marto, Margaux & Dan, Dobbo understands that the player is not injured, adding “Billy Slater will not pick players who are out of form or injured”
Margaux Parker pointed out that “two weeks ago, he was in form!”
“Ah but two weeks is a long time in Rugby League,” laughed Dobbo.
There was better news for Dane Gagai who returns for the Maroons after demonstrating impressive recent form.
Dobbo says that this is very good news as “Gagai has been bloody good” in recent games.
After being named as 18th man in the Origin opener, Felise Kaufusi will play off the bench in Origin II replacing the injured J’maine Hopgood.
Queensland sealed a big win in game one, so go into next Wednesday’s second State of Origin match-up looking to seal another success.
The Blues meanwhile have a lot of work to do, resulting in coach Michael Maguire making five changes to his New South Wales squad for game two.
