After pulling himself out of the State of Origin series, Kalyn admits he wasn’t in the right mental state to commit to the Maroons via Tanya & Steve.
“It was a scary time, but I’m sort of grateful I got through that. I think it’s just the boys, the coaching, the coaching staff…that are making me a better player everyday,” Kalyn Ponga said on Tanya & Steve.
“Because of the concussions, I probably wasn’t in the best headspace to go and commit to the Maroons…staying in Newcastle, keeping things simple, just focussing on myself, has definitely paid me back.”
His return to form has coincided with the Newcastle Knights unlikely charge to the finals with six wins in a row.
