Tanya & Steve talk to Gary, Emily Van Egmond’s dad, about the strong support for the Matildas as they head into the semi-finals.
Gary discusses his approach to supporting his daughter, Emily.
“There’s about an 80/20 split, 80% is the dad and about 20% is the coach.”
He also unpacks the quarter-final.
“It was catastrophic…when we went to penalties I felt very confident.”
“It seems like it’s getting aligned…what could go wrong?”
Additionally, he provides the rationale behind Australia embracing the Matildas’ journey.
“We’ve got a chance to win a World Cup here on home soil, that’s never going to be something that we’re going to experience again in our lifetime.”
