Steve Johnson told the Sunday Rub he has the rare claim of copping a spray not only as a player, but as an assistant coach as well.
STEVE JOHNSON ON BOMBER THOMPSON AND JOHN LONGMIRE SPRAYING HIM:
“Bomber Thompson gave me a spray before the game even started… in a practice match!”
“John Longmire is one of the best blokes in footy. Unbelievable bloke, you see him in the box, he gets animated… but.”
“He just gave me this almighty stare and (he says) ‘Oh okay! Here’s the whistle… you take it! You coach the team!’ and chucked his whistle at me.”
“I’ve sheepishly picked up the whistle, I had to go into his office after training had just finished.”
“He said, ‘You know what? If that was Alastair Clarkson, he would have punched you in the head.'”
