Nathan Brown told the Sunday Rub how a drunken conversation with Mick Malthouse made the decision to retire an easy one.

“I thought that I still had a little bit to offer. I felt like the body had let me down with the broken leg.”
“Richo said ‘Didn’t Collingwood show some interest in you?’…I was meant to ring Mick Malthouse but I didn’t before I come on this trip and [it’s] probably done now.”
“It’s about 4pm in Australia, 6am here… A lot [of beers], it was 6am.”
“I rang up and Mick answered… He goes ‘You’re not ringing for a game are you?’.”
“I walk back in and Richo goes ‘How did it go?’, I said not that great and he goes ‘… you want to go out again?”
