The Roo, Dits & Loz Rumour Mill has one hot off the press this morning, with a good source telling us that John Longmire is set to stand down as Sydney coach.
RUMOUR MILL: LONGMIRE SET TO STAND DOWN AS SYDNEY COACH:
“I’ve got it on good authority that John “The Horse” Longmire has stepped down, or is stepping down as Sydney coach,” our source told us.
“A good source has told me that it’s already happened, it’s just gotta come out in the media.”
MORE FROM ROO, DITTS & LOZ:
Sydney haven’t confirmed the rumour, but are hosting a “major club announcement” at 1:30pm today.
Longmire was appointed Sydney coach in 2011 following an apprenticeship under master coach Paul Roos, winning the 2012 flag with a stunning victory over a powerful Hawthorn side.
The former North Melbourne forward coaches the Swans for 333 games overall, with an overall record of 208 wins, 122 losses and three draws.
If he leaves his post, Longmire’s last game will be a 60-point grand final loss at the hands of Brisbane.
The grand final loss was Longmire’s fourth as Sydney coach, following defeats to Hawthorn in 2014, the Western Bulldogs in 2016 and Geelong in 2022.
MORE ON THE SYDNEY SWANS:
The Roo, Ditts & Loz Rumour Mill is in fine form this year, having broken the story about Chris Fagan’s classy post-grand final gesture to inured ruckman Oscar McInerney last month.
