Leigh Montagna Explains The Areas Patrick Cripps Has Improved From His Brownlow Year

Leigh Montagna has explained on the Midweek Rub the three areas that Patrick Cripps has improved on that are contributing to him being in better form than his 2022 Brownlow year.

JOEY ON THE THREE AREAS CRIPPS HAS IMPROVED SINCE HIS BROWNLOW YEAR:

As well as Joey’s areas, Cripps is having career best or equal best year for forward 50 ground ball gets, centre clearances, and score launches.

2024 is also the Carlton skipper’s second lowest year for contested possession rate — the percentage of contested possessions he wins to uncontested — since his first season in the league.

52.7% of Cripps’ possessions are contested this year, with only the 51.7% of 2021 lower since his debut year of 2014.

“The way he’s leading the side and involving others, I think that’s been one of the great highlights,” Daisy said.

“He doesn’t have the sense that he has to do it all himself — although at times he is.

“He’s bringing others into the game, and I think that’s been a big reason as to why they’re playing so well.”

Joey, Daisy, and Damo also discussed Nick Daicos’s status as the most clutch player in footy, how Max King can make the best of another knee setback, Dustin Martin’s future and more.
