Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki joins Triple M’s Night Shift to share more about today’s much anticipated solar eclipse and how to safely enjoy it.
Today, Australia will experience an hybrid eclipse, which only takes place a few times per every century.
“Even if you’re looking at one percent of the sun, that will burn a pattern onto your retina” says Dr. Karl.
“If there’s any bit of the sun that you can see, you have to wear the proper gear.”
“You have to wear the special eclipse glasses.”
The best place to witness the eclipse is off the coast of Western Australia.
Melbourne, Sydney & Brisbane will be able to see twenty percent of the sun being blocked out at approximately 12.45PM.
