Manly have splashed the cash on youngster Josh Schuster, the maligned backrower/half who has been inconsistent in his fledging NRL career.
At his best, Schuster is one of the most dynamic players in the competition, but to be consistent for the Sea Eagles, league great Gordon Tallis says it starts off the field.
HEAR GORDON TALLIS’ ADVICE FOR MANLY’S JOSH SCHUSTER ON THE FOOTY TALK PODCAST:
Schuster signed a three-year extension with Manly this week, reportedly worth $800,000 per season.
That makes the him one of the highest paid backrowers in the competition, according to The Daily Telegraph’s Rich List.
While he was set to play five-eighth for Manly, it looks like he’ll shift into the back row following the Sea Eagles’ signing of Luke Brooks on a four-year deal from 2024.
Despite a rocks-or-diamonds 2023 season, Schuster has a fan in Tallis, the champion forward whose career advice starts off the paddock.
“I really like him,” Tallis said on Footy Talk.
“The things he does on the field only Josh Schuster can do.”
