‘I’ve Been In His Position’ Wendell Sailor Gives His Take On The Joseph Sua’ali’i Criticism

Wendell Sailor has given his thoughts on young Sydney Roosters star Joseph Sua’ali’i.

A form slump has been attributed to the large media coverage that has followed the young man since he signed a contract to join rugby union in 2025.

Now there are calls for the Roosters to part ways with the 20-year old early after he was labelled as, “the most over-hyped young man” in the NRL.

A former league and union star himself, Wendell Sailor gave his thoughts.

‘I think it’s a lot of pressure on this young man,’ said Sailor.

‘At the end of the day, when he signed his rugby union contract there’d be so much media attention.’

The Big Dell continued, explaining his own experiences of when he swapped codes.

‘I’ve been in this position.

‘Though, it’s not his fault people want to pay him $1.6m.

‘I say we have to be very careful.

‘People are just throwing shade at this guy…

‘People are just angry that they don’t have his talent.’
