Collingwood’s Scott Pendlebury spoke to the Marty Sheargold Show about the crackdown on dangerous tackling, and how it’s changing the way players approach the game.
Pendlebury revealed players will attempt to “bend the rules”, as sling tackles remain in the spotlight.
“Players are so smart, we can bend the rules pretty quickly,” Pendlebury said.
“You might get hit, stay down until the whistle goes and you hear ‘dump tackle’ then you pop straight back up.”
It comes as another player was banned for a ‘sling’ tackle, with the rule interpretation becoming a major talking point.
