Nick Riewoldt has cleared the air over a public spat with former Saints coach Brett Ratten two years ago, talking on Triple M’s Mick In The Morning.
“He took the bait”
Off the back of Melbourne sacking coach Simon Goodwin, Roo opened up about his comments around the standards at St Kilda.
Following his stint at the Saints, Brett Ratten said Riewoldt wouldn’t know how the club functioned during his time as he only turned up for “free physio”.
Riewoldt responded to co-host Mick’s claim he “famously got him sacked”, which led to the appointment of Ross Lyon as Saints coach.
“Brett was asked at a press conference, what he thought about me criticising the standards at St Kilda when he was coach… which I never said, Brett was led into that by the journalist. He took the bait.”
“I spoke about the standards being poor there for a long time, dating back to when I was there.”
