“We Can Go To A Counsellor But They Don’t Understand” Todd Carney On Past Mistakes And Advice For Braydon Trindall

Todd Carney on Footy Talk’s Half-Time alongside Mitchell Pearce opened up on his own troublesome career.

The former Dally M winner wanted to offer advice for Cronulla Sharks half Braydon Trindall after he was found driving with an expired license, while under the influence of alcohol and an illicit substance.

“We do make mistakes,” started Carney.

“I know through my career I made plenty of mistakes.

“When the bubbler scandal happened, it was still 13 rounds to play I think.

“I offered to hand up my whole contract for that year, the next year and not play at all.

“Then go on $150k the following year.”

Unfortunately, Carney’s contract was torn up.

Though he offered what he believes is a better solution for players who have found themselves on the wrong side of the law.

“When stuff like this, it’s not, you need to go to a counsellor, to tick a box.

“But you need to put him in front of people that understand what he’s going through.”
