Manly Sea Eagles star Tom Trbojevic reportedly offered to his club to take a $750,000 pay cut in order to rejuvenate the squad after missing so much footy due to injuries.
And it caught the attention of Footy Talk League’s Half-Time podcast duo Mitchell Pearce and Todd Carney who gave the superstar a lot of praise.
LISTEN HERE:
“Hats off to how selfless that is,” said Pearce.
“He’s a caring dude and cares about the club but that’s a huge statement.
“He’s obviously putting the club first before himself which is massive,” added Carney.
“It’s a massive show of commitment to the club that he loves.”
The NSW Blues and Kangaroos representative has only played 28 games in three seasons, the pay-cut attempt was ultimately rejected by the NRL.
The governing body’s salary cap auditor put a line through Trbojevic’s attempt out of a fear that a dangerous standard would be set where clubs may actually take advantage of the Manly star’s good natured attempt but forcing players into a similar position.
