Todd Carney’s Origin Tales Of Tommy Raudonikis & Gus Gould “He’d Rip In… It’d Get Personal!”

Todd Carney shared some yarns of being in NSW Blues camp with State of Origin legends Tommy Raudonikis and Gus Gould on Footy Talk’s Half-Time.

The period between 2006-2013 was a rough period for the Blues as they could break Queensland Maroons’ successive run of eight consecutive shields.

So, NSW would turn to legends to draw inspiration.

“He came into camp during that time and we were trying to break Queensland’s dynasty,” said Carney.

“He was swearing so much!”

Yet as inspiring Tommy was, Carney gave an insight onto the influence of Gus Gould.

“He spoke about the importance of the group.

“But he spoke about the importance of each individual and what it would mean to us to break that dynasty Queensland had on us.

“It gave me goosebumps.”
