Steve ‘Blocker’ Roach joined Aaron Woods for another episode of Footy Talk’s Woodsy’s Club Tour.

One of rugby league’s greatest ever forwards went through his experiences of playing in the classic international rugby league tours of the UK.

“In those days, they’d send videos of your kids growing up,” chuckled Blocker.

“The whole team would be waiting for the videos.”

Three months was the average length of Kangaroo tours but as hard as it was for people’s’ personal lives, Blocker explained the brotherhood bond that forged from those trips away.

“You can never undo those friendships.”

Some of rugby league’s greatest names featured in the past Australian Kangaroo sides and Blocker remincised at just how good those teams were.

“We played in a test match against England.

“I remember Gene Miles scored two and set up two.

“I think Australia were winning 26-0 at half-time.

“There was 52,000 there, they were all singing, if you want your money back, clap your hands!”
