North Sydney Bears legend Peter Florimo shared one of his biggest challenges post-footy on The Rush Hour’s Hero, Highlight & Hardship podcast.
LISTEN HERE:
Florimo opened up with Gus, Jude & Wendell and stated how he’s still working within rugby league circles but mainly helping players, current and former finding themselves and more importantly, finding a path after footy.
“I’m working in well-being at the moment.
“I’ve been talking to current players and old players who have been through the system.
“The hardship is seeing how those guys are coping with life right now.”
Florimo explained that currently the NRL have been able to implement strategies to assist players with educational programs and support services though the challenge still remains.
“Some have been fortunate, put things in place and have a career outside footy.
“Some haven’t and they weren’t prepared.
“Some of them are tragic stories.”
One of those heartbreaking stories is the life and death of former Queensland Maroon and friend Peter Jackson which Florimo goes into depth about.
