“He Wouldn’t Be The Same Player At The Dragons” Mark Geyer Warns Sunia Turuva Of Potential Departure

Penrith Panthers legend Mark Geyer doesn’t want to see Sunia Turuva depart his beloved club.

The 21 year-old, current Dally M Rookie of the Year and Premiership winning winger has been told by the Panthers that they can only offer 350k a season to retain his services.

That figure has NRL clubs licking their lips, specifically St George Illawarra Dragons who are armed with a reported $3 million warchest to get the embattled giant back competing at the top.

Turuva seems like he’s at the top of their list.

But Geyer explained on MG’s Rugby League Rundown, that maybe Turuva should accept unders for the time being and re-evaluate his situation in a few years time.

“He wouldn’t be the same player at the Dragons,” said MG.

“It’s the same old story.

“Players from premiership winning teams have to weigh up, on one hand, do I take more money in the short-term?

“Or do I stick around in a team that’s going to win around 85% of their games.

“And then look around at my options when I’m in my mid-20s.”
