Olam’s Medical Retirement Could Leave The Tigers With Cash To Spend

The sad news that Justin Olam is likely facing medical retirement due to a knee injury means that Benji Marshall could have a big chunk of cap space to bolster his lineup.

“He wants to keep playing but the reality is his knee is busted and it looks as though he’s
going to be forced into retirement.” said Michael Chammas on Triple M NRL Daily.

“The big question is whether or not that[his salary]will be on the cap or not and if the Tigers can manage to get that off the cap they’re gonna have a bit of money to spend.”

Under the NRL rules, if the Wests Tigers can prove that it’s a one off injury then Olam’s $600,000 salary will be off the cap.
