Mitchell Moses Set To Make Australian Debut As Parramatta Eels Halfback Is Deemed Fit

Brent Read revealed on Triple M’s Monday Scrum that the Australian Kangaroos officials met last week to discuss what the national team squad will look like as the Pacific Championships roll around the corner.

And Mitchell Moses will be waiting in anticipation.

LISTEN HERE:

As expected, troubled Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs winger Josh Addo-Carr is expected to be left out.

Though, selectors and head coach Mal Meninga will announce a 31-man preliminary squad, possibly “some time this week.”

And it seems that the Kangaroos may have to deal with some of their best being unavailable.

“The expectation is that Nathan Cleary won’t play, who’s got the shoulder issue,” said Read.

“The expectation is that Cameron Munster will have surgery in the off season as well.”

Because of the injury issues in the halves, Meninga has thrown Mitchell Moses into the mix to finally make his Australian Kangaroos debut.

Having not played since mid-July, Meninga reached out to the 30-year-old and told him that if he were to get fit in time, he’d be apart of his plans.

Moses’ Parramatta Eels had a horror season as the playmaker missed a lot of footy through injuries.

But the half managed to get himself into the NSW Blues squads for Games Two & Three to win this year’s State of Origin in famous fashion.

Moses has always been behind the very best in the game for Australian selection but still did himself proudly representing his country of heritage, Lebanon.

And it also seems that veteran Daly Cherry-Evans will be ready to be called upon in Cleary’s absence and could also be joined by Queensland Maroons teammate Tom Dearden.
