Jason Demetriou Dishes Out Hard Truths To Brisbane Broncos

Jason Demetriou, former assistant coach at the Brisbane Broncos on Thursday Scrum has challenged the Queensland club after a poor 2024 and facing heavy pressure to always be in premiership contention.

“Well, let’s be brutal, they forced Wayne Bennett out of the club off the back of prelims and Grand Finals,” said Demetriou.

“That tells you how much expectation there is at the club.

Demetriou continued, referring to the “rockstar” treatment of the players, as a one town team, the size of the Broncos, don’t generally cop the same scrutiny their Sydney based counterparts do.

“If you’re gonna take the pats on the back, you have to take the kicking because it’s going to come and that’s the thing about being a big club.

“But it’s heightened in Brisbane, because when you’re doing well, you do feel like a rockstar.

“They’ll feel the sunshine coming out of their backside and it can turn very quickly.

“And it has turned.”
