“If We Ever Got The Bulldogs, Dragons, Eels & Tigers Into The Finals, It Would Erupt!”

Michael Chammas on Footy Talk League’s Journos Show shared his thoughts on the passionate fan base of Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs as the side from Sydney’s West aim for the first Finals campaign in eight years.

But Chammas boldly explained why Penrith Panthers supporters, a group reaping the rewards of the most successful era in modern Australian sport don’t really hold a candle to Dogs fans, but in fact various Sydney clubs.

“With all due respect and I live out in that area,” started Chammas.

“There is not the same parochialism and passion for the Panthers as there is for the Bulldogs.

“Or there is for the Dragons.

“But [Panthers] is a different fan base.

“There are a lot of young fans who have grown up on success and in the next 20 years their fan base is going to go through the roof because they’ve grown up not knowing anything but success.”

Though Chammas explains his dreams of seeing an all-conquering Sydney Finals Series, one that would melt down Western Sydney and the rest.

“But the Bulldogs, the Dragons, Parra and the Wests Tigers to a degree,

“If we ever got them all four into a Finals Series, it would erupt out West.”
