The league icon, who played in the 1960s and 1970s, famously led South Sydney to four premierships.
Sattler infamously played with a broken jaw in the 1970 grand final when Souths triumphed over Manly.
He played 197 games for the club and four Tests for Australia.
Legendary coach Wayne Bennett joined Triple M’s Rush Hour moments after news broke of Sattler’s death to pay tribute.
“He was a legend in South Sydney,” Bennett said.
