Leading NRL journalist Michael Chammas says he wouldn’t be surprised if Jack Wighton has sourced a third-party agreement in Sydney after the superstar playmaker turned down a mega deal from the Raiders to sign with the Rabbitohs.
LISTEN HERE:
Wighton stunned the NRL world on Wednesday when it was confirmed the former Dally M Medal winner will join South Sydney on a four-year deal from 2024.
But eyebrows have been raised since the signing after it was revealed Wighton had signed off on a deal worth close to $300,000 less per season to leave the Raiders, who had tabled a multi-year deal worth more than $4 million according to reports.
“There is no reason why Jack Wighton, through his management, hasn’t sourced a third party in Sydney. That is allowed,” Chammas said on LiSTNR’S Footy Talk League Podcast.
