Suaalii, 19, last week stunned the rugby league world when it was revealed he would take up a $1.6 million per year deal from 2025 with Rugby Australia.
Quizzed on whether he drew interest from the 15-man code, Inglis, whose links to the AFL and NFL during his 16-year career are well-documented, admitted he also had several opportunities to play rugby union.
Inglis revealed he had an opportunity to play with his cousin at Randwick which nearly lured him to switch codes, before revealing the key reason for never going through with it.
“There was a time where I sat back and did think about it,” Inglis said on Triple M’s Footy Talk League Podcast.
“I had an opportunity to come down and play at Randwick with my cousin.”
