North Melbourne veteran Ben Cunnington was subbed out during his side’s Good Friday clash after failing to pick up any clearances and notching up just 10 disposals.
Jay Clark said the call by Alastair Clarkson was a demonstration of North Melbourne’s new approach to the game and the expectations it needs its players to meet.
“What I love about this, this is Alastair Clarkson and this is North Melbourne setting a new standard,” Jay Z said on Dead Set Legends Melbourne with Joey, Jay, Kath and Lehmo.
“He’s saying if you’re not doing your job fella, then you can come sit with me.”
Joey echoed what Jay Z had to say, emphasising this was just one week for Cunnington, and he’ll come back from it.
“It was nothing against Ben Cunnington but it’s just about the standards and players playing their role,” Joey said.
“Ben Cunnington will bounce back, he’s a star. But for the game yesterday, they needed someone else.”
