As the Ben Hunt saga continues to roll on at St George Illawarra, former Dragons forward Gorden Tallis has revealed how sitting out for a year at the Red V impacted his life.
Tallis signed with the Broncos to play in the Super League in 1996, but when the rebel league was pushed back 12 months, the then 23-year-old stuck to his principles and declined to play for the Dragons again.
LEAGUE LEGEND GORDEN TALLIS EXPLAINS HOW SITTING OUT FOR A YEAR CHANGED HIS LIFE ON THE FOOTY TALK LEAGUE PODCAST:
Tallis says he’d like to see Hunt honour his contract at the Dragons, even if it means the NRL stepping in to make it happen.
Looking back, Tallis says leaving the Dragons early might not have been the right decision.
“I don’t hold any grudges (against the Dragons),” Tallis told Footy Talk.
“The Dragons 100 per cent did the right thing and I did the right thing by what I believed in at the time.
“But in the end I probably didn’t.”
