Sports broadcasting legend Jim Nantz has revealed how he unleashed the competitive beast in Tom Brady while playing golf against former Presidents Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush.
Jim has hosted The Masters for 35 straight years, worked on the NFL since 1998, called 6 Super Bowls, plus commentated on March Madness, US Open tennis, Winter Olympics and plenty more.
In 2006, Nantz was invited to join Brady and the two former commanders in chief for 18-holes.
Speaking with Mark Howard on The Howie Games podcast, Nantz said the foursome played a “game of sixes” whereby each player partnered with each member of the quartet over 6-holes.
Nantz and Brady were paired together for the final 6 holes of the day when Nantz attempted to “unleash the beast” in Brady.
LISTEN TO THE INCREDIBLE STORY HERE:
“I basically gave [Tom] the locker room speech and his whole face changed I said we’ve got a chance to make history, let’s beat these guys. And we beat them over the last six holes – five up. We clobbered them!,” Nance said to Howie.
“We got to the 18th hole and we’re on our way to this resounding victory and President Clinton walked past our cart and said you boys sure don’t take it easy on a bunch of old presidents do you. I looked at him, knowing I’d unleashed this competitive fire in Tom Brady I said, ‘Welcome to the NFL Mr President’.
