Socceroos coach Graham Arnold has revealed he’s set to speak with A-League owners in the coming months to revamp the current format of the competition in a bid to strengthen football in Australia.
Arnold, who recently re-signed through to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, says now more than ever Australia’s top-tier competition must adapt to a longer schedule of games.
The Socceroos coach revealed why it’s crucial the A-League finds a way to follow the European structure, which sees teams playing upwards of 50 games each year across all competitions and cups.
“We just don’t play enough football, we play NRL and AFL,” Arnold said on Triple M’s Dead Set Legends.
