Gorden Tallis and Ben Dobbin tackled the coaching issues engulfing the St George Illawarra Dragons on Footy Talk.

Head coach Anthony Griffin’s future still remains a mystery, as the club have started to look towards the future.
The proud club’s, specifically St George, have a long history of success. Combined with Illawarra’s strong junior pool, two finals appearances since 2015 haven’t been good enough.
As debates continue to surround the Saints, Tallis weighed in with his thoughts on the situation.
‘I don’t think they’re going backwards, I just think the noise is too much for the whole organisation,’ said Tallis.
‘They need someone who’s really strong and prepared, like Wayne Bennett, who manages the board and they don’t come anywhere near it, Wayne does it all.
‘Nobody walks in with a blue coat from Illawarra or St George it’s just one.
‘It’s Wayne’s world.’
The duo continued to discuss what the next step needs to be and Tallis believes it needs to be one of two scenarios.
‘[Maybe] you need someone like Des Hasler, like Wayne, because you want to win now.
‘Or you bring in someone like Jason Ryles for five years and give him the five years.’
Though Ben Dobbin stressed that he doesn’t believe Dragons fans have more patience to sit through another rebuilding-type period.
Yet, Tallis used Bennett as an example to counteract that point.
‘Wayne’s got a famous saying, if you want to listen to the fans, go sit with them.’
