Roosters utility Connor Watson has broken the players’ silence on the current RLPA-NRL CBA dispute since the players voted to boycott media commitments earlier this week.
Speaking on Footy Talk, Watson explains in great detail what the dispute is over, why the players feel so strongly about standing up to the NRL and provides examples of where the NRL has leveraged its unchallenged power.
LISTEN TO CONNOR WATSON CHAT TO JAMES GRAHAM AND GREG INGLIS ABOUT THE ONGOING CBA DISPUTE ON FOOTY TALK:
“All of this stuff is really about control,” Watson tells Footy Talk.
“It’s not money – that’s already agreed upon. It’s like how we spend our money, how we allocate our funds, (the NRL) having control over the game and not consulting the players on it.
“And one thing that I personally think that with the spending of the funds is because if we can’t allocate like more money to the players, then the game has more control over us.
“Hopefully the NRL can come to the table and we can get this show back on the road.”
