Former rugby league turned one of Australian sport’s biggest media personalities Denan Kemp joined Aaron Woods for Footy Talk’s Woodsy’s Club Tour.
LISTEN HERE:
Kemp, the founder of Bloke In A Bar shared with Woodsy many yarns about his footy career and his life in the media spotlight.
Yet, he shared an insane story of his first pre-season with the Brisbane Broncos in the mid-00s.
When we asked former Bronco Wendell Sailor if he had a similar experience during his own stint at the club, he replied, looking stunned, saying, “geez… nothing like that!”
The players were sent to do a spontaneous military session that lasted close to a week.
“The army sergeants strip us naked, give us a parker and say, ‘f###### put your kit on!
“Get in the bus!”
Kemp continues going into detail on what happened on the first night of pack marching.
“We finally lie to go to sleep on the side of the road.
“And they start throwing stunt grenades around us!
“I hear Mick Ennis going, “hang on! hang on! it’s too far! it’s too far!”

Denan Kemp shares some of hilarious yarns and goes much more into depth about these army drills, including a tale of Justin Hodges wanting to start a mutiny, Brad Thorn being put in a horrible situation to feed himself and the team and how insane the sergeants actually were… safe to say, the Broncos players were not thrilled
