Dale Thomas Condemns Saints Youngster Amid Investigation For Homophobic Slur

St Kilda rookie Lance Collard is currently being investigated by the AFL for using a homophobic slur up to 10 times in a VFL match – marking the fourth incident in footy so far this year.

Dale Thomas has called for the AFL to strengthen its stance against all types of slurs.

“The fact that the AFL is saying ‘naivety and inexperience’ I think is a complete cop out.”

Thomas said the statement reportedly made by the AFL “reflects poorly on the AFL PA for not making this clear to the young kid.”

Thomas argues Collard should face a lengthy ban, after Gold Coast player Wil Powell copped a five-game for a slur made against Brisbane in May.

Collard is alleged to have made several comments to Williamstown players when playing for Sandringham over the weekend.
