Wasim Akram Explains His Love For The 12th Man Tapes

Pakistan legend Wasim Akram told Triple M Cricket about his love for the classic 12th Man tapes during the Perth Test.

WASIM AKRAM ON HIS LOVE FOR THE 12TH MAN:

“I played for Lancashire for 10 years… that’s when that CD came out,” Wasim said during commentary on day one.

“They used to put it [on] in the dressing room, and I fell in love with it.

“Because those were the icons of the commentary world those guys, and Billy Birmingham was funny.”

Wasim said he was tickled some of the puns on his and his teammates’ names.

“I remember my name was Wasi Acrim,” he said.

“I couldn’t get it early on, but eventually I realised what it meant.”

Wasim said there was no thought amongst him and his Pakistani teammates of taking offence to the jokes.

“Probably nowadays they would get offended, people get offended at very little things nowadays I believe,” he said.

“But in our days it was just fun, we enjoyed it.

“It was a good laugh, and that’s what life is all about.”
