Trent Bridge 2013: ‘The Most Courageous Ashes Innings In History’

Australia fell 15 runs short of their target in the first Ashes Test at Trent Bridge in 2013.

Brad Haddin top scored and was the last man out in that final innings, posting 71 before edging one off Jimmy Anderson.

But – as he opened up on Willow Talk – the personal stakes for him and his family were so much greater than any Ashes Test could possibly compete with.

“That was the first time I’d been called back into the team full time after having an extended break when my daughter was sick,” he explained.

“I haven’t told this before. That last day, she got taken into hospital, she had some complications…”
