Tex Walker has responded to reports that Adelaide have approached Patrick Dangerfield in an attempt to bring him back to the club.
Channel 7’s Mitch Cleary reported the move last night, saying the Crows had made a bid to bring Dangerfield based on his experience and ability to lead a young midfield.
Adelaide drafted Dangerfield with pick 10 in the 2007 draft, and he played 154 games for the Crows before making the shift to Geelong after the 2015 season.
Speaking on Breakfast with Roo, Ditts & Loz, Tex – who was Dangerfield’s captain for his last season at Adelaide – was initially coy on the purported move.
“You’re asking the wrong bloke,” Tex said.
“I’m not on list management!”
Tex admitted it was a long shot, however.
“I find it very unlikely to be honest,” Tex said.
“He’s 34, he wanted to go home to be with mum and dad.”
Dangerfield won a best and fairest. a Showdown Medal, and was named All-Australian three times as a Crow before moving back to Victoria to be closer to family.
He expanded his CV significantly after shifting to the Cats to include five more All-Australian blazers, three Geelong best and fairests, a Brownlow, an MVP and a long awaited premiership in 2022.
Tex also discussed Jake Soligo’s red hot form, backed over last week’s Showdown win, his dad being inducted into NSW Hall of Fame and more.
