Australia batsmen Travis Head joined Triple M Breakfast with Marto, Margaux and Dan this morning ahead of the first Ashes Test tonight and addressed the threat of England’s ‘Bazball’ tactic in the series.
“We need to be high alert,” said Head.
The English side come into the series with plenty to prove, but have adopted a new, all out attack, style of play under new coach Brendan McCullum.
“We know there’s going to be stages in this series where we can’t stop them. They’ll get going like they have and we won’t be able to stop them,” said Head.
“It’s about trying to limit them as much as we can and staying calm. I think if we can do that, as we’ve seen over the last two years, whoever stays clam in those big moments over the next five to six weeks will take it.
“Ben Stokes has taken over captaincy and both he and Baz (Brendon McCullum) are both incredibly positive and aggressive players. They’re immensely respected in the group and are great motivators.
“They’ve come in with their way and everyone has jumped on board. Everyone feels invincible and our job is to tear it all done in the next six weeks,” said Head.
